This is not me being silly and joking around today, nor am I going to spend a lot of time digging up background information on this one. I just heard about the guy that went into the Arkansas Democratic Party headquarters, and shot the state party chairman, Bill Gwatney, three times.
For months now, I have been listening to a lot of conservative radio. I have been telling people that in the recent weeks, the language on these talk shows has become more and more incendiary, and more inflammatory. I've been hearing stuff like, stop the radical, we've got to keep this guy out of the white house, Obama is going to ruin the country, and I'm afraid of what he might do when he's in office, we've gotta make the democrats pay, the radical left is trying to turn the US into a european nation, etc. I mean, just crazy, inflammatory stuff. Hannity, on his talk show the other day, actually said that one of the things that makes Obama underqualified was that his big energy plan was proper tire inflation. I mean, absolutely no truth to it whatsoever.
Then you have the nutcase fans calling in. A somewhat popular female morning radio show host actually said on her show that Barrack Obama, and his wife are "bad people". I'm thinking, what have they done? I didn't hear anything about them having ever committed any crime. I have heard a lot of vicious commentary. It's to the point where it made me think, wow, something bad is going to happen, if these radio hosts keep spurring these nutcases on, and recklessly sitting by, and allowing them to be heard on their radio shows. Then there was the guy who was arrested in Miami, for allegedly making death threats against Obama. Now, today, we have another guy actually shooting a member of the democratic party.
I don't know...just seems like someone should watch the tone of the callers, and the radio hosts these days, as they have the power to actually quell these folks, or sit back and agitate them.

By the way, the person in Miami that made death threats against Obama also made death threats against the current President, Bush. It seems that person was a non-partisan nut job.
Eric, this post is right on. I agree with you 100%. People of this nation are easily manipulated by those that they look up to and see as role models.
On a related note, I found this article on Snopes:
http://www.snopes.com/politics/obama/mother.asp
While this has not been confirmed, it has also not been disproved either so it should probably be taken into account even if with a grain of salt.
So the question then is this; if listening to conservative political pundits for a couple of months will drive a man to murder, what would a couple of decades of being nurtured by a radical extremest drive a man to do?
That was funny Michael. I never imagined anyone referencing unconfirmed snopes articles political cannon fodder...There's a lot of noise out there!
Hey, it's on the internet, so it's gotta be true...right?
The Snopes story was unconfirmed, I even said so in my original comment, but I think the point is still valid. Maybe you should read it again and keep Eric's comments in the blog in mind when you do. Eric said "someone should watch the tone of the callers, and the radio hosts these days, as they have the power to actually quell these folks, or sit back and agitate them." However, someone who was raised in a radical extremist's home or was a member of the congregation of a radical for 20 years couldn't possibly have been influenced, right?
I forgot, I guess its just my conservative, easily brain-washed mind that is confused, those things would never have influenced a liberal. With all their socialism, big government and high taxes, they are not capable of being influenced as easily as us right-wingers.
That's is a great point. If anybody thinks he isn't in some way, shape, or form influenced by his "questionable" associates, they may want to look back at their own life.
